Product Description
Welcome to the July issue of Lincolnshire Life. Although the longest day is behind us, we still have the bulk of the summer ahead and we seem to be brimming with out and about ideas and events this month.
Woodhall Spa is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the founding of the village on 9th July with a ‘People’s Pageant’.
This will have echoes of the historical pageant which was held 100 years ago to mark the centenary but is planned to be a celebration of the vibrant and welcoming community of Woodhall today. More details are on Life at Large on page 12.
16th July is the date for this month’s most quirky event. Woodhall Country Park is the venue for the Woodhall Spa worm charming competition. I might just have a go at that myself!
I went out to meet author and Pilgrim Father historian, Sue Allan, at her home. Sue is not a Yellowbelly but a more ardent supporter or lover of the county you could not meet. Moving to Lincolnshire began a very personal journey of historical and personal discovery for Sue and her story is both inspiring and intriguing.
We have plenty of food themed features for you again this month. Rebecca Corbally has been down to Stamford to attend a fish course at the new cookery school established by Thierry Daugeron while I visited another local food hero, David Moden, a Lincolnshire Plum Bread champion. There are, of course, our regular dining out and recipe pages too.
I also went to meet a young actress who is in the spotlight as the heroine and touring in a production of ‘Annie’ which will be coming to her home city, Lincoln, this September.
Our town features include Louth, Bourne and Heckington with a taster of what to expect at this year’s show at the end of the month.
We shall be there too, so don’t forget to come and meet us on the Lincolnshire Life stand and at Spilsby Show on 10th July.
See you there!
