Product Description
We are half way through the year already and I am feeling slightly guilty hoping for a flaming June. For gardens and crops we desperately need some decent rainfall but I so enjoyed the glorious weather at Lincolnshire Show last year that I can’t help but hope for the same again. We have some fabulous entertainment lined up for you on our stand so read more about what there is to look forward to in our show special beginning on page 74.
I have taken full advantage of the recent sunshine to get out and about to find stories for this month’s issue.
I visited Ellys Manor House, Great Ponton, to learn more about its fascinating connections to the Northern Renaissance and to see the rare fifteenth century wall paintings which decorate the upper storey rooms. Read more about Ellys Manor House on page 56.
I travelled to Louth to interview artist, James Gillick, in his studio. His beautifully crafted still lifes will be exhibited in London this month. I had the opportunity not only talk to James about his art but also to have a preview of some of the paintings in the show. Read more on page 18.
We have a feature about Annette Foley-Craigen on page 104. She is a Grantham-based business woman and the founder of an internationally recognised beauty company. I went to meet her to discover the source of inspiration for her innovative products.
In the run up to Wimbledon, Ali Wood has interviewed Lincolnshire tennis player, Jade Windley, to hear about the highs and lows of the circuit and how she prepares for big tournaments.
Our town visits this month include Brigg, Metheringham and Newark - each one offering something unique in lifestyle and leisure for you to explore.
If history is your interest there is a new opportunity to sign up for a five day archaeology course to discover more about the county’s Roman past. Read more on page 58.
There are plenty more stories to capture your interest so I hope you enjoy this issue. Everyone at ‘Lincolnshire Life’ looks forward to meeting you at the Lincolnshire Show or at one of the many other shows we attend over the summer.
