Someone who has great passion for the weight of history on his shoulders is David Pennell, estates manager at Burghley House. He has been in post for just a year and has responsibility not only the magnificent Elizabethan house and its wonderful Capability Brown park, but also the many other assets of the estate. Our feature on page 84 gives an insight into David’s role.
