We have a passion for the history of the county at Lincolnshire Life and this month’s Heritage Open Days are themed ‘Lincolnshire at War’. While the main emphasis is on the twentieth century there is the opportunity to explore other military heritage from the Romans to the Civil War. David Robinson’s feature on page 20 looks at just a few of the eighty-five events this year.
Someone who has great passion for the weight of history on his shoulders is David Pennell, estates manager at Burghley House. He has been in post for just a year and has responsibility not only the magnificent Elizabethan house and its wonderful Capability Brown park, but also the many other assets of the estate. Our feature on page 84 gives an insight into David’s role.
